Achieve that smooth and soft skin that you’ve always wanted with the new champion of laser hair removal.
Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that uses a powerful laser or intense pulsed light (IPL) to remove unwanted hair. This light source heats and destroys hair follicles in the skin, which disrupts hair growth. Unlike other hair removal options, our Laser Hair Removal treatment means fast, safe, and cost-effective hair reduction. Common areas to treat are the face, chest, legs, arms, underarms and bikini line. It can be helpful for women with excessive hair growth hirsutism.

Frequently Asked Questions
Laser hair removal is a process which works to permanently reduce hair growth in targeted areas. Our specialists carry out the treatment, targeting unwanted hair with lasers to damage or destroy the hair follicles, which ultimately prevents regrowth.
Our lasers use a large treatment spot size which allows multiple hair follicles to be targeted at the same time. During laser treatment, a diode laser beam passes through the skin towards hair follicles. The penetrating energy then heats up the root of the hair, which in turn prevents future hair growth.
With each session, hair is reduced. We recommend an initial course of 8-12 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart (depending on area and skin tone).
At NY Skin Clinic, all of our lasers are class 4 medical, which is the highest standard of laser. We use DiolazeXL which has the one of the largest treatment spot sizes, making treatments convenient and fast. The combination of efficacy, patient comfort and speed makes DiolazeXL a leader in laser hair removal.
Our laser hair removal machine, DiolazeXL has a built in skin cooling surface, this makes treatment more comfortable than other devices, with most patients claiming it’s virtually painless. Everyone is slightly different so book a complimentary consultation with any of our specialists prior to your appointment.
Laser hair removal can be used on most areas of the body that have unwanted hair. Most commonly treated areas include: bikini, legs, arms, chest, back, shoulders, stomach, neck, chin and sideburns.
No, it is not safe to get laser hair removal over a tattoo as it can potentially lead to burns, blisters or skin damage.
At NY Skin Clinic our specialists are able to safely treat all skin types with our medical grade lasers leaving you with great results. Our lasers can be adjusted to work with any hair and skin combination. However, it’s not as effective on tanned skin or hair that’s been bleached by the sun. If you’ve got a tan you’ll need to let it fade before having treatment.
For your initial course of Laser Hair Removal treatment, we recommend approximately 8-12 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart (depending on area and skin tone). Depending on your hair type and goals, you may wish to have more or less. Our specialists will be able to advise you on how many sessions will be needed.
We generally recommend spacing sessions between 4 and 6 weeks apart, depending on the area and hair growth, but your specialist will advise on the frequency of your treatments to obtain optimum results. This is to ensure the hair follicles are targeted at the correct stage of their growth cycle.
You’ll need regular sessions to keep hair from regrowing. How often sessions are needed varies for each person. For example, you may need a session to remove facial hair every 4 weeks, and for body hair every 6 to 8 weeks. That’s why a course of treatment is required. Your specialist will discuss this with you during your initial consultation, but as a guide we usually recommend around 8 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart (depending on the area to be treated).
We advise against laser hair removal treatment during pregnancy or while breastfeeding as patient safety is our highest priority.
Yes. Men can have laser hair removal for unwanted hair, or excessive hair growth caused by a condition called hypertrichosis. Laser hair removal works equally well across the entire body and the face.
Here are some things you can do to prepare for your appointment;
- You’ll need to shave the area of skin the day before your appointment, not on the same day.
- Avoid waxing or plucking before treatment as this can change the hair growth cycle.
- Avoid tanning including sunbathing, sunbeds and fake tan. If you are tanned you must leave at least 2 weeks before treatment.
We recommend you shave the treatment area a day before your treatment with non-perfumed products.
On the day, you’ll wear specially designed goggles to protect your eyes. Our specialist will apply a cool gel to the area of skin. They then press a handheld device to your skin and trigger the laser. This may feel like an elastic band snapping at your skin.
Each session may take between 15 minutes to over an hour. The number of sessions needed depends on the area to be lasered and the system used.
Prices vary depending on the size of the area covered and number of sessions booked. We recommend completing at least 8 sessions of treatment on an area to see permanent results.
